CHAdeMO 2018 General Assembly took place in Tokyo

CHAdeMO's General Assembly took place in Tokyo as the Association continues to expand with a healthy growth in the number of compatible EVs, charger installation as well as its membership base.

CHAdeMO Association held its 2018 General Assembly in Tokyo’s Daiba district on 30 May 2018, with the presence of over 200 members.

The meeting started with a discussion of the 2017 fiscal year report, which demonstrated a healthy growth of CHAdeMO worldwide: by 2017 there are already 18 000 chargers installed across 71 countries; close to 400 members from 38 countries with an upwards trend, etc. This was followed by a speech by CHAdeMO’s President Toshiyuki SHIGA as he shared his vision on the future of mobility. Then, Mr. Hiroshi ISHIKAWA (Director, Electric Vehicle and Advanced Technology, METI) and Dr. Hiroshi OKAMOTO (Executive Vice President, TEPCO Power Grid) spoke on government’s actions to promote “next-generation vehicles,” and on the future of the energy industry towards decarbonization, coined Utility 3.0, respectively.

In the reception that followed, a variety of CHAdeMO-flavored products were displayed by various members. There was also a special speech and presentation by Mr. Pierpaolo Cazzola (Senior Energy and Transport Analyst, IEA) on the latest version of their most popular publication, Global EV Outlook 2018, which had just been published.
