Platform for electro-mobility, a European alliance of 25 companies and organisations including CHAdeMO Association, published a news release on 28 March to urge Member States to publish their plans for crucial e-mobility infrastructure.
Under the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Directive (2014/94/EU), the Member States are required to submit their plans for deploying an EV charging network by the end of 2016, but only 17 out of the 28 member states have done so. The press release was made at this crucial timing to urge Member States to accelerate the timely implementation of the Directive as well as to press for their active engagement in a variety of measures to accelerate electro-mobility, including: more publicly accessible charging stations, more flexibility on connector requirements, simpler permitting and financing of charging infrastructure, greater provision for vehicle charging from buildings, increased resources for e-mobility infrastructure, and generating synergies across multi-modality.
These points were presented and discussed during the event at the European Parliament on the same evening, which was attended by around two hundred electro-mobility stakeholders from a variety of organisations, including the European Parliament, the Commission, Member States, industries and civil society (see photo).
