Plug and Charge Working Group starts

CHAdeMO Association launched its Plug and Charge Working Group (PnC-WG) to drive forward technical studies and standardisation with the aim of realising a plug and charge function based on the CHAdeMO charging standard. The kick-off meeting was held on Friday 4 July 2025 in a hybrid format.

Currently, ISO15118 and other later recharging standards include specifications for automated payment of usage fees during recharging, resulting in improved convenience at the time of payment and commercialisation. However, the CHAdeMO standard has so far not specified an automatic payment method.

A low-cost and simple automatic payment system with guaranteed security is to be defined as a CHAdeMO standard specification, with the aim of realising a charging system that is even easier to use.

The new Infrastructure Workshop begins

The EV market has expanded rapidly in recent years, requiring the development of charging infrastructure and technological innovation. In particular, support for the spread of charging standards, development in international markets and the dissemination of information on charging technologies and visions are essential for the further advancement of EVs.

With a view to quickly responding to these challenges and realising a sustainable mobility society, CHAdeMO Association has decided to integrate its previously fragmented activities related to infrastructure dissemination and public relations into the new Infrastructure Workshop. The following three activity policies will be the pillars of our efforts to contribute to the development of the EV markets.

1: Dissemination support

  • Organising seminars and webinars by experts
  • Holding workshops for companies
  • Supporting the activities of test centres to ensure interoperability

    2: Global development

    • Research and analysis of charging infrastructure policies (Asia, Europe, North America)
    • Strengthening collaboration with local partner companies and government agencies
    • Promoting CHAdeMO standards at international exhibitions and forums

      3: information dissemination

      • Publishing newsletters
      • Presentation activities at international conferences and exhibitions
      • Speaking at international forums related to EVs
